The beautiful walled city of York in North East England has been crowned the best family-friendly place to live in the UK.

New research, which was conducted by Play Like Mum, looked at a variety of factors to uncover which areas are the best for childcare, outstanding schools, affordable housing, outdoor activities and child-welcoming restaurants. If you're planning to make the move with young children, these are the places to consider.

York, which scored 65.46 in the study, was found to have the largest selection of child-friendly activities, as well as being one of the safest places for families to live. Meanwhile, Cambridge came second with the most adventurous activities, while Plymouth was found to have the cheapest childcare.

"If you're looking for the perfect place to settle down with your family, factors such as a quality school, things to do, especially outdoors, and a low crime rate are important factors to take into account when finding a place to settle into your forever home," Play Like Mum explain.
